This previously unissued DVD, Live in Berlin 1972, presents one of the only two known examples of Ellington's star trumpeter Cat Anderson collaborating with a Charles Mingus formation. He guest stars on "Perdido". The other members of the quintet are: Joe Gardner, Hamiet Bluiett, John Foster, and Roy Brooks. Tunes also include "Peggy's Blue Skylight" and "Celia". As a bonus, there is the complete 1968 Thomas Reichman film "Mingus in Greenwich Village" which was shot one night in November 1966, while Mingus was waiting in his loft for the arrival of the police with an eviction order, intended to be aired on TV, as part of a campaign organized by Mingus for what he considered a racially motivated action. Inserted in the monologue are fragments of his band in a club and during rehearsal.
