Sun Ra Arkestra - 3rd September 1988 Chicago - Klondike

By Kenneth E. Clark on February 12, 2015 Amazon. I was hesitant to buy this. Don't know the record label & there was NO product description. For all you other fellow completists, we know that many available live recordings are worse than BAD bootlegs. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE. It is a radio broadcast & the quality is actually better than many live recordings available from this period. It is quite good.I hope the record label is paying royalties to the Sun Ra Arkestra. The personnel is probably the same as from 'Live at Pitt-Inn Tokyo' which was recorded exactly 1 month before this. That means you get Sun Ra, Ahmed Abdullah, Michael Ray, Marshall Allen, John Gilmore, Tyrone Hill, Danny Ray Thompson, Leroy Taylor, Bruce Edwards on guitar, Rollo Rodford (electric bass), June Tyson, Samurai Walker & Buster Smith on drums. The tunes in order: Untitled improv, Blue Lou, Back Alley Blues, I Dream Too Much,Frisco Fog, Prelude To A Kiss, Queer Notions, Sophisticated Lady & Egyptian Fantasy/I'll Wait For You/Angel Race. Now the important stuff - IT'S A GREAT SHOW, ONE OF THE BETTER AVAILABLE, THE BAND IS SWINGING & ON FIRE. Buy it if you love this band, it will make you smile & snap your fingers. I am glad I took the chance.
